St. George

For Trevor's spring break this year we went to St. George and met my family there. Everyone was able to go. It was so fun to have us all together. We went to Bryce Canyon, Zions, and shopped. The boys had a full day of golfing at great resorts. We stayed at a resort that had a bunch of pools and play grounds. Maddyn had a blast playing with Kate.

Maddyn turns 3!

Maddyn turned 3 in March! She is getting so big. She is so helpful when she wants to be. We had some family over for dinner and she opened presents. She is really getting this present thing down. She tore through all of them. She LOVES her sister and is always telling her "you in big trouble zobug stop that" She loves to carry Zoey around. She has not appreciated the cold weather because she is an outside girl. She still sleeps with Minnie and Juice everynight. Her best friend is Titan and they play everyday.

Nanny mcphee?

(disregard the chips in her mouth)

So Buggy is finally getting teeth. She had 2 on the bottom forever, but now 4 are coming in on top. One is coming in quicker than the rest. See any resemblance?

SInce the last post...

At the beginning of February, Zoey was hospitalized for RSV. She only had to be in there for 24 hours. Maddyn loved coming to see her and play in her big crib with her. Zoey was such a trooper. She had an IV in her arm and she couldn't sleep because it would beep everytime she bent her arm. They finally took it out at 1:00 am so we both could sleep. After they gave her some fluids she perked right up and she was great from that time on.

Last week, I went up with Zoey to get her tear ducts poked. Her right eye doesn't drain the tears so her eye is always wet around it. We had an appointment on Wednesday so I went up on Monday and did some work stuff. When we got to the doctor on Wednesday, he said we were at the wrong doctor and had to make another appointment. They called us in an appointment that afternoon to the Moran eye center. We waited there for 3 hours to see a doctor. By that time I knew I was not going to make it home that night. The doctor told us he could do the surgery on Friday but they would have to put her to sleep. I called Trevor and he drove up the next day. Zoey could not eat for 12 hours before the surgery and of course they were late doing the surgery so she was starving. She was in and out of the surgery in 10 minutes! She did so well in recovery. All she wanted to do was eat but they wouldnt let her have more than 4 ounces because they didnt want her to throw up. It was so sad. As soon as we left, I let her have a huge bottle! She will have a tube in her eye for 6-8 months. You can barely see it in the corner of her eye. They say it will probably fall out before we need to have it taken out. So two hospitalizations in one month is going to be a pretty penny I am sure!

Maddyn and Zoey have been playing so well together. Maddyn loves to put all of her toys in Zobugs bed and then play there with her for hours. My favorite part of this picture is Maddyn got the hymn book and put it in front of her piano so she could play just like Grammy :)

Maddyn also found some markers and decided to color hers and Zobugs hair. She is no longer able to touch the markers. She also has a new obsession with bandaids. She loves to put them everywhere. We now have to hide the bandaids.

I also got super into biking. I got a road bike for my birthday this year. I havnt been able to ride it outside much but I got a trainer and have been riding to videos. It is so much fun. I can't wait to ride this summer!

Projects

I have totally got in this craft kick. It started with making curtains for the kitchen (the red ones). I stole this idea from this fabulous website . There is no sewing involved. Then I got some fabric to make my own headboard. The curtain pattern in the bedroom I made up. I need to put something above the headboard any ideas? When I was up north I bought a pattern for an apron. I found some cute fabric and whipped one up. The pattern is so cute and easy I want to make more. Then I saw this easy pattern for a valnce that sticks out like 4" from the window. I made one for Zobug that matches her blanket and some for the living room. I plan on making curtains for my therapy office and the guest room. I have made the front room into my therapy office. I decided to paint it a very soothing color of green. I textured the one wall with tissue paper and it turned out pretty cute. I also recovered some cushions on a chair to match.

Maddyn and Zoey update

Zoey is crawling everywhere. She is getting a little faster than a turtle now. She will follow you around the house and loves to play in the shower when you get out. She can say more in sign language, loves to eat big people food and is very patient with her sister. She is still pretty small but she is catching up. She will be 9 months here in a few days. She sleeps through the night even when her sister is mad about something and crying. She puts everything in her mouth and we have had to pull lots of items out. There is no way to keep the floor clean with a 3 year old around. She likes to dance when there is music and will smile at anyone who looks at her. She is growing in dark hair which I hope stays. Maddyn's was very white at this point so I think it will stay dark.

So Maddyn is getting to be quite the inventor of ideas. Her new favorite place to play is in the toy box. You will rarely find toys in there; just her. She also likes to place items in the oven. You can see by the pictures what happens when we do not look in the oven before we preheat. She loves to carry Zobug around and tell her what to do. She has started Preschool and loves it. She loves spending time with her best friend Titan. She will help around the house if you just ask her to. Her chore is switching the laundry. She loves to find extra change and put it in her piggy. She is a great help when you ask her to be.

Christmas

Christmas was a lot of fun this year. Maddyn still wanted to play with each present before she would open another one. Zobug was not interested in any of it. She did not even want to play with the paper. maddyn got a cleaning set that has a working vaccum and Zobug got a mat for the floor to crawl on. They also got some movies that Maddyn cannot stop watching. She loves Strawberry Shortcake and Toy Story 3 now. After they opened all of their presents, Maddyn decided that she needed to take everyone of her presents into her bedroom. She has never done this before. She then played with Zobug in her room for 2 hours. Zobug loves playing with her.

(This is a jelly and cheese sandwich; her new favorite.)

Thanksgiving.

I know that it is clear after Christmas now but I have been super swamped with work and in my free time I am trying to do something that will give me an energy boost to keep going. Lately that has been craft projects (I will post about those soon).

For Thanksgiving we went to Oregon. We met my parents on the coast and rented a condo right on the beach. It was so much fun. It snowed on the beach though. Maddyn hated the water and was super scared that it was going to sweep her into the ocean. She wanted to just walk up by the rocks. Zobug had to be bundled up in a blanket so she never saw the ocean. The drive was really long. It took us 21 hours to get there and 3 days to get back. The girls were REALLY done driving after that. The drive back was snow packed the whole way. We saw at least 20 wrecks. We were so lucky we were able to take OUR truck because we would have never made it back safe. While in Oregon we went to the Tillamook Cheese Factory (yes Trevor they make cheese there not Cheesecake :0). We also went to an aquarium, light houses, played bingo, and made many walks on the beach.
Maddyn loved spending time with Grandma and Grandpa and being spoiled! The highlight of the trip for the boys was going to the Oregon State Football game. My dad retired the week before the trip so we treated him to a game. They were in the covered chushy seat section. The boys loved it and the game was also very exciting.
