Maddyn actually sat down last week and let me straightner on her hair. It only took a bowl full of candy to make her sit still long enough. I think I like the bangs straight, but not the back. I am partial to the curls.
So Zoey has slept in her bed the past two nights. She is such a noisy sleeper that I needed to move her. She is doing good so far to only wake up twice. We will see if the trend continues. I am not sure that Zoey is going to survive Maddyn though. Maddyn is constantly doing something to Zoeys head. Zoey is getting so big so fast. I am feeling a ton better. We went on a walk today for 30 minutes. I had Zoey strapped to my chest and Maddyn in the stroller. I just felt like I was out of shape, not like I was going to pass out. So that is major improvement. I also dont look so pale and my eyes aren't black anymore. I had a neighbor tell me that I dont look like I am about to die anymore. Trevor has one more week of school and then he is home for the summer!!! We can't wait. Maddyn is loving being outside. This is how she puts her bike when she gets off so it doesn't roll away. It is so cute. She loves her four wheeler too and even rode it in the neighbors dirt to go off roading. She is starting to say Mannyn instead of Manny for herself. She just needs to add the D's now.
Maddyn finally let me cut her bangs. She is absolutely against doing her hair in any way. It is a big fight to even get a pony tail! Therefore, she always has hair in her face and it bugs us to death. Yesterday I had her on the sink sitting still and she let me cut the hair out of her face. I need to decide what to do with the back now. She has such curly hair that if I don't keep up on combing it, her hair turns into a BIG rats nest. I am scared if I cut it though, her curls will disappear. I don't know what to do.
I have been feeling a little better each day. On Monday I went to the grocery store all by myself and was able to drive home. It was fabulous. On Sunday we went for a drive up the mountain to look at all the water. It was fun to get out of the house!
We broke down and purchased a swing. It is fabulous. Maddyn loves it too. She tries to sit in it herself and put Minnie to sleep in it. We are still struggling to get Zoey on a schedule which doesn't help with my tiredness, but I know she will get it soon.
We went to Zoey's 2 week appointment this morning. She is growing so big. She is 6lbs 10 ounces, but she shrunk an inch and is only 18.5 inches. They said the hospital doesn't measure them real well and to not be alarmed. The doc also check my blood levels and said they look amazing. I only have to be on my transfusions meds for 2 more weeks instead of 2 months!!! I was also able to drive my car for the first time in 3 weeks and I carried Zoey into the doctor without passing out. I am making baby steps!
Everyone keeps asking me how different Maddyn and Zoey are. Here are pictures of both of them at 2 weeks in the same outfit. You can make your own comparisons. I think that Zoey has much darker hair and a different hair line. She also has different lips and her head is more oval than Maddyn's was. Tell me what you think...
I know this is 2 weeks late, but I can finally write about the story without bawling my eyes out so here it is.
So on Friday April 16, Trevor and I headed to the hospital in Monticello at 6:30 a.m. We filled out all of our paperwork and got set in the room. I had to have two IVs one with the pitocin and one with the Magnesium for my high blood pressure. Everything got started about 9:00 a.m. I was already dilated to a 4 for a week and a half so we thought it would go fast. The contractions started but weren't too bad. I stayed dilated to a 4 until 2:00 when the doctor came and said he wanted to break my water. I wanted the epidural first because I didn't want to be without one if things went too fast. The lady tried to get the epidural in 3 times. She kept telling me that all of my back tissue was like melted butter and she couldn't get it to stay. One of the times she tried to get it in, she went too far and got into my spinal fluid. It leaked out which meant that I was going to be in horrendous pain three days later when I got the worst headache of my life. After the epidural not working the doctor said lets just break your water and get going. I just about had a panic attack. I was just remembering pushing for 2 hours with Maddyn and I knew I was going to be in really bad pain. The doctor broke my water and I had Zoey within 30 minutes. I pushed twice and she was out. It really wasn't that bad. Had I known, I would have skipped the epidural all together and saved myself one less traumatic event. After she was born, the doctor had a hard time getting the placenta out. When it finally came out, some of it had torn and was still in me. He was trying really hard to get it out while I was getting more and more pain. I started to loose so much blood that they wouldn't let Trevor be in the room anymore. I don't remember much, but every time I opened my eyes the room was spinning so fast. I do remember the doctor giving me a blessing with Trevor and his dad. I know that is what saved my life. I don't remember much for the next 3 hours except the nurse rubbing my belly so hard and me yelling at her why do I have to do this turn the pitocin off. Finally at 8:30 the doctor showed up and said that I had to have a D & C and he hoped he wouldn't have to do a hysterectomy. I was wheeled into the operating room and couldn't wait for them to knock me out. Right before I fell asleep I remember someone yelling into the doctor that he needed to come quick because Zoey was not breathing. Then I was out like a light. I woke up 2 and a half hours later and could hear Trevor and the Doc talking about Zoey and I knew she was ok. I ended up having 3 units of blood transfused and he was able to not do a hysterectomy. Trevor later told me that it was him that yelled into the Operating Room. He said that after he had wheeled me into the room, he went to hold Zoey. He had not really been with her since she was born because I was in so much pain. He sat down and she started turning purple. He ran out to the nurses and they started trying to suck her airway out. He saw the panic in their eyes and ran to get the doc. Later the doctor told us if Trevor had not thought to do that Zoey probably would not have made it. She had a spasm in her esophagus and she aspirated formula. They had to suction out her lungs. She is ok now and should not have any side effects. Trevor told me that he was so scared running into the operating room to get the doctor because he wasn't sure if he had started surgery yet. He felt like he was having to make a choice who survived by pulling the doctor out of surgery. But everything worked out the way it was suppose to. Heavenly Father was looking out for us. The below picture is my face 2 hours after surgery. I was so swollen for days. My throat was also all torn up from the chest tube I had during surgery.
I got to leave the hospital on Sunday, but they kept telling me that I was going to get this headache from the spinal fluid I leaked. Well it hit on Monday evening. I was not able to stand up straight or be in the light. I went to the doctor on Tuesday and he told me I needed to get a blood patch. I so did not want to do that after being stuck so many times. I decided I would go. A blood patch is where they go back into the holes in my back and put blood in from my arm so that my brain thinks I have spinal fluid there. Oh my heck this was worse then getting an epidural, but it worked instantly and I was able to stand up again. I am doing much better now. I am able to walk to the end of my house without feeling like I ran a marathon. Since I was still missing a unit of blood, the doctor said I would be winded because your blood cells carry your oxygen. I was also ghost white for two weeks and had black eyes. I can now take a shower without passing out and I can eat without getting really nauseous. I still have a good month before I will feel a 100% but I am grateful to be alive with my little family. I have had to many great people help us out. We are so thankful to everyone.
Zoey Grace was born Friday April 16 at 4:34 p.m. She was 6 lbs 19.5 inches. Baby is great, Niki will be recovering for a while. More details to come later. Thanks for all the prayers and help.
Could we have better timing for Maddyn wanting to potty train? I am on bedrest and Trevor is leaving town and I am scheduled to have a baby in 4 days AHHHHH. So yesterday Maddyn would not keep her diaper on. I told her she could run around naked if she went in the potty. She then went in the potty twice yesterday. Today she has went twice again and has only been awake for 4 hours and has had not accidents on the ground yet!!! She loves the stickers she gets when she goes and puts them in her coloring book.I hope she keeps going and we only have one in diapers!!!
I thought I better hurry and post this before I pop a baby out and dont ever post about Easter. Easter was so much fun this year. Maddyn really got into it! On Friday, we colored Easter eggs with Papa. Maddyn only broke three eggs. Trevor was showing Maddyn his favorite egg and she dropped it on the ground. On Saturday, we went down south and rolled eggs down a sandy hill. Maddyn thought it was so fun to be at the bottom and collect the eggs in her chair. She was so sad when we went home and she couldn't be outside anymore. She is such an outdoors girl. On Sunday when she woke up, the Easter bunny had come. She knew right what to do and found all of her eggs. We should have hid them better. She got a singing hopping bunny from Grandma and Grandpa that she named "Hoppy". We have already had to replace the batteries once because she listens to it so much.
Maddyn got this when she was running up the driveway. She only cried because she spilled her juice.
This is her Easter dress...she picked out the shoes.
I took these pictures of Maddyn because she loves her picture taken. She learned how to ride her scooter the right way and wants to go outside to ride all day long. It has been too cold, but she doesn't care. We also have moved our house around to make room for the baby. We moved the computer out in the living room and filled up the armour with all of my work stuff. Maddyn has left the computer alone so far and I seem to work on things more when it is out here. We also had to get a TV stand because we were using the bottom of the armour for our tv stand. Then when we got the stand, we saw this ottoman that opens up with lots of room. It is perfect for a toy box that also functions as furniture. It really seems to help with Trevor's OCD and Maddyn understanding that her toys need to be cleaned up!
The weather has been so nice. we only have snow left on the side of our house. I can't believe the 8 foot tower of snow in front of our house is gone. I took these pictures today of Maddyn after church. She is getting so big and learning so much. She is also learning to test her boundaries ahhh not good for high blood pressure. We got her some baby stuff for her minnie doll for her birthday. She just started carrying minnie around in that car seat thing all day long. She tried to take it to nursery today, but we wouldn't let her. As soon as we got out of church she ran home to see minnie. I can't believe how much she loves minnie. We found minnie mouse pajamas at walmart yesterday and she didn't want to take them off today for church. So cute.
We went up to Salt Lake for Trevor's spring break. We had to get a bunch of stuff for the baby that is quickly coming. Maddyn was so good, we had to take her some where she would enjoy. She loved the Living Planet Aquarium. She look at all the fish and even tried to pet the sting ray.
My mom informed me the other day that she did not know much about the new baby because we always talk about Maddyn. I then realized that I dont think I have posted about this baby since we found out she is a girl. I am now 32 weeks a long with 55 days to go!!! I am already bigger in my belly now then I was with Maddyn when I gave birth. I have a lot of amniotic fluid with this baby so that is not a concern. She is moving constantly which is a change, because Maddyn never moved. I think I am ready and have everything we need except a few items I can't find like burp cloths and sock. I dont know what I did with those. I am feeling well except I am developing slight high blood pressure so I need to take it easy. Apparently, my feet dont swell up my eyes and eye lids do. My face is huge from the swelling and some days one eye is hard to open. Hopefully with some rest I can get this under control. Other than that, the baby is measuring exactly on track. On Tuesday she was just about 4 pounds and and had a fabulous Non Stress Test. So we are happy about that. Her due date is still May 5. Maddyn likes to see the baby by pulling my shirt up and tickling her or givng her kisses. When I tell her that her sister is kicking her, she puts her foot up to my belly like she is threatening her. It is so funny. She will be a great big sister!!! We can't wait to meet this little girl, but are not looking forward to the sleepless nights ahead.
